“Some people dream about success, while others.. they wake up to reach it” – The Airplane Boys
I introudced APB a few days back and I also promised more material.. so here goes. Sleep, serves as the groups fourth single, and all I have to say is, dope dope dope! Everything from the insturmental, lyrics, song topic, rhyming patterns, and the chorus, the song is unlike anything you are used to hearing from what these other wack cats are feeding yall. Oh btw did I mention that these dudes reside in Toronto? Yes, that is right, more proof that our city is breeding fresh new talent that do not have to follow what the “American” artists are doing. Keep an eye out, I will continue to feed you more content weekly.

A few days ago, my homie Karla over @ SheTokes hit me up on Facebook and told me to peep these dudes from Toronto who called themselves “The Airplane Boys“. Now I must mention that Karla is only down with that dope stuff so I had to check these guys out.
From the first listen of their studio single “Outerspace” I was instantly hooked. The best way to describe their style is “a whole new breed of sound in modern music”. Their songs consist of a dope mix between hip hop, pop, electro, rock and jazz music accompanied by unique lyrical patterns and catchy hooks. This is the Toronto Talent that makes me very proud to be living in this city. It’s not a big surprise to watch T.DOT give birth to some of the best new up-and-coming artists, and “The Airplane Boys” are a perfect example of the fresh air in modern mainstream music that is being bred in my city.
With that being said, im very excited to watch as The Airplane Boys (Mannie and J) release more content and hopefully an official album in the near future. Until then, keep checking 1VIBE as I will be posting more songs from them this week.
Keeping up to date with my Twitter familia, i grabbed this from ma dude @RichieSosa. This Toronto Talent post brings a video from a Toronto rapper who goes by the name of The Don Rolo also featuring the beautiful voice of Faith Walker. The song/video is a glimpse into the mind of a true thug, full of passion and honor. The video is about exactly that, beef, love and decisions. You cant find Rolo in night clubs, chasing girls or posting-up in a parking lot on the hood of his Lexus…he is a provider, an alpha-male with four children and a diehard wife forever by his side. With that being said, watch the video, because its dope!

If you visit our website frequently, then you are no stranger to the sound of T.DOT’s prince, JD Era. I notced that i had yet to feature my dude under the category “Toronto Talent” and since i got my hands on another joint from him, i think it was time. This time around he remixes Weezy’s “Always Strapped” song featuring Birdman.

Ive been meaning to post the audio for this song but i never got around to it.. i guess i was just saving it until i had the video. Trish is in my opinion full of that Toronto Talent and currently she has been creeping up on the scene. I first got a glimpse of what she had to offer on the “Don’t Watch Me” music video featuring J.Diggz. What really caught my attention was her style, everything from apperance, to the lyrics, or the dance moves, this girl has a package that no other artist offers. I also had the pleasure of meeting Trish @ the DJ Stylus Awards 2009 and i must say, this girl is really down to earth and is very fun to speak with.

Make sure you are on the lookout for more exclusives on Trish here @ 1VIBE.net in the very near future.

Ive been meaning to feature my dude Chrisco Hype on 1VIBE, so here we go. We first connected through ma homie Mike Opoku (wattup homie!) @ UOIT/Durham College which is where i go to University. What first got me interested in his music was that he has a “feel good/party/have fun/energetic/commercial” style to his songs. When i first started listening, i found that i could bump his music, put it on replay, and never get bored of it. At the moment Chrisco is still hard at work and continues to push his music to new levels. I have faith in this guy, and i firmly believe he is one of the upcoming artists to lookout for coming out of Toronto. Keep an eye out for his “Im Bored” mixtape dropping in 2009. Chrisco will also be featured on an exclusive project to be released by 1VIBE & TDotRap.com, scheduled to drop before the end of summer 2009. Yezzur you already know, 1VIBE, Tdot, Chrisco Hype, we do big things!

Since its a bit slow today, i decided to drop something different. I noticed that in our website category “Toronto Talent” we had yet to feature Drake. Fo real? So you know we had to do it up for the homie.
MuchMusic recently followed rapper Drake as he headed to his first sold-out hometown show at Sound Academy in Toronto. From meeting up with his entourage and arriving at the venue, to chilling in the green room and stepping on stage, we were there to capture every moment. It’s a must-watch cause you’ll get a good sense of Drake’s humble personality and charming nature. Is it just us, or was he particularly charming towards our lovely VJ, Sarah Taylor? Who can blame him, really.

For those of you who don’t know Blake Carrington, you are in for a big surprise. Coming from Toronto, he is one of the few cat’s that we’ve featured on 1VIBE because we feel his music is fresh and the quality is on point. Welcome to my World is his brand new mixtape featuring music mixed with so many different styles i have a hard time categorizing him. Hit up TorontoFresh to listen to the preview as you download the mixtape below.
Blake Carrington – “We will make it, Toronto is gona get fucking Grammys, Toronto is gona fucking sell millions of copies around the world, cuz we got good fucking artists in this muthafuka, we going to the TOP!”
Well said homie… i look forward to your project, Blake Carrington’s World, dropping on May 15th. I first featured Blake with Ron D. when they dropped their “Toronto” music video, and it was cool cuz these dudes was talking about places that i walk through, i go to, i live at etc. We have mad talent in the city, and with the changes that the internet has brought within the industry, its only a matter of time before the world discovers the Toronto Talent.
TorontoFresh, good looking on that comment, hit me up with more material when you got it.
Yet another new category here on 1VIBE which you will see a lot of posts from, this one is called “Toronto Talent”. I live in the T-Dot and i thought id show some love while at the same time spread the word to the rest of the world about the amazing talent that resides in my city.

Our first feature is the talented singer Ayah.
